Edward Snowden
I bought this because I had seen the movie and had read or consumed the story countless times from various articles, blogs and interviews. This book is more comprehensive than the movie and it deeply explores surveillance, state power, access, secrecy, and the cost of saying no from inside the machine. Whether or not someone agrees with Snowden (and his approach), this because will resonate because it forces the right discomfort. Technology is not neutral. Someone always decides how it is deployed and for what use, and someone else lives with the consequence.
